LKBEN11198: Howto change a whole file to uppercase or lowercase with vim


Symptom

You need to create a file with just lower or uppercase

Cause

none

Solution

With vim you can do almost everything but sometimes you need to search a bit around.

To convert a whole text to lowercase you can use:

:%s/.*/\L&/

For converting to uppercase you use:

:%s/.*/\U&/
