LKBEN11569: Which ports are needed for ODBC and SQL Server.
Symptom
You need to connect an application which uses ODBC to the database.
Cause
You might have to open some firewall ports.
Solution
To communicate with SQL Server you need at least port 1433. To find and connect to the database you also need UDP 137, 138 and TCP 139 for NetBIOS over TCP. The ICMP is usefull for troubleshooting. For using Open Database Connectivity on SQL Server you can use the list below. For ODBC connections to postgres you open port 5432. Please not these are the default ports, your configuration might be different.
The following ports should do the job:
- TCP 1433 (SQL Server)
- TCP 5432 (Postgresql)
- TCP 139
- UDP 137
- UDP 138
