LKBEN11509: Which ports are used by Samba or SMB?


Symptom

You need to open ports on your firewall for Samba or SMB network communication.

Cause

There is a firewall between your clients and your servers

Solution

The following ports are used for smb communication and need to be open:

  • TCP 445
  • TCP and UDP 137
  • TCP 139
  • UDP 138

After opening these ports you should be able to communication with your samba or windows servers.
