Symptom
You get the error message: Exec format error
Cause
none
Solution
The program you try to run is not an executable format. It is relatively easy to generate this error.
Compile a program with gcc
e.g.
gcc testprogram -o testprogram
Now you can run the program and nothing is wrong. You can change the compilation like:
gcc testprogram -c -o testprogram
You will notice that what you get is not an executable. If you make it executable with chmod +x testprogram and try to
run it, you will get the error
-bash: ./testprogram: cannot execute binary file
