Symptom
Some logfiles can become quite big, if you only want the contents to be deleted and the file should stay you should use this tip
Cause
None
Solution
The most easy way to do this is a redirection into the file.
If you want the contents of the file searchterms.txt to be deleted but the file and the access rights should stay you do this by:
>searchterms.txt
You can still see the file but the contents is empty. The access rights are exactly the same as before!
