Solution

Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is a PAtch- and Updatesoftware from Mircosoft. It consists of a Server- and a clientcomponent. WSUS helps administrators to provide Microsoft-Updates in big local networks.
WSUS loads updatepacks form the Internet and provides them to Windows clients for installation. The Admin can select (on the server) which clients should receive updates and those who should not receive updates.
The WSUS serversoftware can be installed on Windows Server 2003 SP1 or Windows Server 2008. The admins can control the allocation of the updates centrally on the server with the MMC (Microsoft Management Console).
Clients have to run with Windows 2000 SP3, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 to receive client- or serverupdates from Microsoft or from a Server on which the Windows Update Services are running.
