LKBEN10826: How to enable or disable the Version info of Windows XP


Symptom

The version info of your Windows system is show on the lower right corner of your desktop.

Cause

You want to display the version of your Windows system on your desktop.

Solution

If you want Windows to display the Version Info on your desktop you have to change a key in the registry.

First open regedit: click start -> run -> regedit

Search for the entry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop".

There must be the following key "PaintDesktopVersion".

If you change the value to 1 the version info is shown.
If you change the value to 0 the info isn't displayed.
