LKBEN10737: Extended Logging of User Login (activate user environment debug logging)

Symptom

Drill down upon problems during user-login / domain login

Cause

issues about slow login, missing gpo settings, profiles get not loaded....

Solution

In order to activate user environment debug logging, define following key in the registry of the / a affected client computer (as an administrator):

browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

make new REG_DWORD value named "UserEnvDebugLevel"

enter "30002" as hex value.

Afterwards you can find extensible logging of the whole login procedure under:

%windir%\debug\usermode\UserEnv.log file

Possible values for UserEnvDebugLevel:

NONE 0x00000000
NORMAL 0x00000001
VERBOSE 0x00000002
LOGFILE 0x00010000
DEBUGGER 0x00020000

These values can be combined (added); 30002 from above therefor means:
- verbose
- logfile
- debugger
