LKBEN10606: Where does a Microsoft DHCP server put its logfile

Symptom

You need to see exactly what happens on the server to troubleshoot the dhcp protocol

Cause

This is by design

Solution

You can see some statistics when you click on the server with the right mouse button and select the entry statistics but this is poor information for troubleshooting purposes.

An enhanced logfile can be found under %systemroot%\system32\dhcp. The server creates a logfile for every day. You can connect to the administrative share of the server to open the logfile from elsewhere. e.g. \\lubbysrv\c$\WINDOWS\System32\dhcp\dhcpsrvlog-mon.log
