LKBEN11750: How to set your proxy on a user basis for linux?


Symptom

You need to give a certain user a proxy setting.

Cause

Solution

Open a bash terminal. Open your .bashrc file and add the following.

Please change 10.10.10.10:3131 with your proxy server and port.

export http_proxy="10.10.10.10:3131"
export https_proxy="10.10.10.10:3131"

To activate the settings your have to source your .bashrc file.

source .bashrc

You can verify if the proxy if functioning with the following test:

curl -I https://www.lubby.org

The output should look like:

HTTP/1.1 200 Connection established

HTTP/1.1 405 Method Not Allowed
Server: nginx/1.14.0 (Ubuntu)
Date: Fri, 25 Oct 2024 06:32:12 GMT
Connection: keep-alive
Allow: GET, POST
X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
