LKBEN11740: How to turn Hyper-V on and off?


Symptom

You need another hypervisor and this can only be done when Hyper-V releases VT-x. So hyper-v has to be disabled.

Cause

VT-x funktionality is exclusive and can only be uses once.

Solution

To turn of hyper-v off you can use the following command:

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

Now you will need to reboot.

To turn it back on you need:

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype on

You can check the result with the following command:

Get-ComputerInfo -property "Hyper*"
