Symptom
You need information about ARP.
Cause
You want to know what ARP stands for.
Solution
ARP stands for Address Resolution Protocol.
ARP is used for finding a host's hardware link layer address when only the IP or other network layer address is known. ARP is widely used. It is not an IP-only or Ethernet-only protocol. ARP is primarily used to translate IP addresses to Ethernet MAC addresses. It is also used for IP over other LAN technologies (e.g. Token Ring or IP over ATM).
