Symptom
You want to disable your splash screen because it does not look good
Cause
none
Solution
You can disable your splash screen. To do this, you need to edit your menu.lst from grub. Load the /boot/grub/menu.lst file into a text editor (e.g. vim), and scroll to the bottom of the file. You should see a line like this:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-10-386 root=/dev/hda1 ro quiet
splash
Just remove the word splash from the line and restart your computer. Now a plain text boot will happen at system startup.
