Symptom
You have a windows server 2008 core server and need to rename it from the command line
Cause
none
Solution
To rename a server core you use the netdom command.
netdom renamecomputer oldserver /NewName:newserver
The command will ask a confirmation before proceding. Please note that this is an "y" even when executed on a german installation!
