Sfc stands for System file checker.

With the systemfilechecker you can scan all the Windows systemfiles if they are in original condition. If Sfc detects defective files you are prompted to insert the Windows Installation CD and the original systemfiles from the CD replace the defective ones.

You start Sfc from the commandline: start>run "sfc".

If you start Sfc with the /? parameter ("Sfc /?") all available parameters are shown.
