Symptom
You want to make shure that you can take memory out of the system to use elsewere.
Cause
Some old driver does not support over 640 MB of memory or you just want to take something for another machine.
Solution
You edit the boot.ini file and add the /maxmem=256 parameter. (change the value appropriatelly)
e.g. multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)winnt="Windows NT" /MAXMEM=256
PS: try this out on the machine of some colleagues (do not forget to take your changes back!)
