LKBEN11521: You need to create a shortcut in the startmenu with powershell


Symptom

A shortcut or link (= lnk) is needed in the startmenu

Cause

Used to customize the menu

Solution

The following script can be used to create a shortcut in the startmenu.

##Create a shortcut in the startmenu
$ViewerStartmenue = "c:\programData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Viewer"
if(!(Test-Path $ViewerStartmenue -PathType Container))
{
	New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force -Path $ViewerStartmenue
		
	$TargetFile   		 = "C:\program files\Viewer\client.exe"
	$ShortcutFile        = "c:\programData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Viewer\viewer.lnk"
	$WScriptShell        = New-Object -ComObject WScript.Shell
	$Shortcut            = $WScriptShell.CreateShortcut($ShortcutFile)
	$Shortcut.TargetPath = $TargetFile
	$Shortcut.Save()
}
