LKBEN11491: Change the hostname of ubuntu/kubuntu computer system

Symptom

You installed your computer but want to change the hostname to a different one

Cause

A raspberry pi with ubuntu is called ubuntu. You probably want to change that.

Solution

To change the hostname you can use the hostnamectl command. If you do not run it with sudo, the command will ask for a user and a password to change the hostname.

sudo hostnamectl set-hostname newname

You can set the hostname to a fqdn by specifying one e.g.

sudo hostnamectl set-hostname newname.somedomain.com

Have fun.
