LKBEN11206: How to run a java application from a jar?

Symptom

You need to run a java application from a jar file on the command line.

Cause

Sometimes you get a jar...

Solution

When the jar has a manifest file in it (which is normal) you can just run it like this:

java -jar MyClass.jar

This will run the java application.

A manifest looks like this:

Manifest-Version: 1.0
Main-Class: myPaket.MyClass
Class-Path: .

You can even rename the jar file because the manifest includes the needed information for the start of the application.
