LKBEN11183: Howto enable virtual hosts in debian or alike system

Symptom

You would like to enable virtual hosts in debian so you can deliver multiple sites with just one server

Cause

none

Solution

You enable virtual hosts by creating a file in /etc/apache2/conf.d with the following contents:

NameVirtualHost *

I named it virtual.conf (comments in this file can be added with # at the beginning of the line)

After changing this you might have to change your sites-available followed by a reload of apache2. This can be done with:

invoke-rc.d apache2 reload
