Some explanation for denial of service

Cause

You want to know what a DoS attack is.

Solution

Simply said a denial of service attack is meant to cause a computer in a network to crash or become so busy processing data that it is useable.

Examples for overloading are Syn-flooding or Smurf-attacks.

Examples for crashing are WinNuke or PingOfDeath.
