LKBEN11033: Howto configure the Option 66 and 67 in ISC dhcp server

Symptom

You need to set these options for configuration PXE boot from an ISC DHCP Server

Cause

You need to start bartpe or windows pe from the server and need these options

Solution

Under Debian GNU Linux the ISC DHCP server can be configured with the /etc/dhcpd3/dhcpd.conf file. You need to add the following entries for activating the option 66 and 67.

#option 66

option tftp-server-name "w.x.y.z";

#option 67

option bootfile-name "test.cfg";

After changing the configuration file you need to restart the DHCP Server. This can be done with:

invoke-rc.d dhcp3-server restart

Please note that the logging can be viewed int the /var/log/daemon.log. The easiest way to do this is with a command line and the command:

tail -f /var/log/daemon.log

To stop watching the logfile you use Strg-C.
