LKBEN10972: Howto add a CD-ROM to the sources.list file of a debian installation

Symptom

You need to get a CD to the sources.list of your installed debian system

Cause

You need or want to install packages from a CD ROM

Solution

You use the following command to add a CD to your sources.list:

apt-cdrom add

Make shure you have a debian CD ROM in the drive. It will mount automatically and if it is a valid Debian CD it will look for packages on it.

You can use a parameter to identify your CD ROM e.g.

apt-cdrom -d /mnt/cdrom

or you can make the program look for it automatically with

apt-cdrom ident

The CD has to be properly configured in /etc/fstab to make it work correctly.
