LKBEN10934: Howto schedule a disk check on the next reboot


Symptom

You need to check (chkdsk or chkntfs) your HD on the next reboot

Cause

This is usefull from time to time

Solution

To check your HD you can set the dirty bit on the volume. The next reboot will automatically check the disks of the system and try to repair them.

fsutil dirty set e:

The will set the dirty bit on the volume e:

To query the value you can use the following command:

fsutil dirty query d:
