LKBEN10693: Howto generate a standby icon on the desktop


Symptom

You would like a shortcut to put your PC into sleep mode also called suspend or hibernation mode

Cause

none

Solution

You can create a shortcut on the desktop and put the following as target:

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

How do people get to this information? Well you can list all the exports from a DLL with the dumpbin utility. If you want to check it you can type in the following:

dumpbin powrprof.dll /exports
