Solution
Mit vim ist so gut wie alles möglich, man muss nur ein wenig suchen.
Um zu konvertieren in Kleinschreibung:
:%s/.*/\L&/
und für Großschreibung kann folgendes genutzt werden:
:%s/.*/\U&/
