Cause

This is by design.

Solution

You can use a xsl or xslt stylesheet to transform xml to native html. This can be viewed easily even with a command line browser like w3m or lynx.

xsltproc lubby.xsl <filename.xml>  > /tmp/testing.html

w3m /tmp/testing.html

or

lynx /tmp/testing.html
