LWE10007 : Howto search in Active Directory with a user defined ldap search for groups with a known string in the middle.

Symptom:

We do not find the groups because the search interface has none standard built in for this kind of searches.

Cause:

This is by design.

Solution:

It is always possible to use the user defined ldap search. Here you will have to write real ldap syntax. The solution for this problem is the following:

(&(objectClass=group)(cn=*alle*)) //this will find all the groups with alle in the middle of the groupname
