Symptom

The NUMLOCK key is off after you logged on to your system

Cause

Might be a setting the BIOS of the system.

Solution

To change this behaviour you need to change the registry setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard.

Here you find the REG_SZ InitialKeyboardIndicators which should have a value of 0.

InitialKeyboardIndicators:

NUMLOCK off = 0
NUMLOCK on = 2

You can copy the following to a reg file and load it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard]
"InitialKeyboardIndicators"="2"
