LKBEN10883: How to activate a Windows 7 or Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 Volume License Version after Installation


Symptom

You need to have a better license activation.

Cause

Solution

All you need is the MAK-Key (multiple activation key)

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the command prompt
  2. Run "slmgr.vbs /ipk (MAK-Key)
  3. Open the Registry and got to the section
    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWAR
    E\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform\Activation"
  4. Set the DWORD registry value "Manual" to "1"
  5. Reboot the System
  6. After reboot login and open a command prompt
  7. Run "slmgr.vbs /ato"
    =>You should get a popup windowthat shows the status of activation
