LKBEN10862: Howto know if desktop heap size allocation failed?


Symptom

You would like to know if desktop heap exhaustion is the cause of your problems on terminal server. (with or without citrix)

Cause

none

Solution

Check if the following key has been set in your registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Value name: DesktopHeapLogging
Value data: 1
Type: REG_DWORD

Now you can check in your eventlog (eventvwr) for the warning ID 243 in the system tree.

Description:
A desktop heap allocation failed.
