LKBEN10840: Recovery console for Windows xp


Symptom

You need the recovery console for windows xp

Cause

You want to install the recovery console on your local harddisk.

Solution

If you want to have the recovery console as an option in your Windows bootmenu you have to install it on your local harddisk.

To install the recovery console on your local harddisk insert the original Windows XP Installation-CD into your CD-ROM and conduct the following commandline start>run "x:\i386\winnt32 /cmdcons" (x stands for your CD-ROM driveletter). Confirm the following request and after the next restart you have the recovery console option in your bootmenu.
