LKBEN10832: You want limit the use of USB media.


Symptom

You want to disable the write access of USB media on you Windows XP.

Cause

You want to disable the write access of USB media on you Windows XP.

Solution

Since Windows XP with SP2 adimnistrators have the opportunity to disable the write access on USB media.

The following registry key has to be modified to accomplish this:
Start Regedit and search for the entry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ StorageDevicePolicies". Create the following the key "WriteProtect" in the DWord format.

If you use the value "1" Windows blocks all write attempts to USB media.
