LWE10210 : Howto switch of autoclose for an sql server database

Symptom:

This option might fill your eventlog!

Cause:

This is by design

Solution:

First you need to know what autoclose does! If autoclose is set to "TRUE", the database is closed, and its resources are freed when no user connection accesses the database anymore. If set to "FALSE", the server maintains the database in an open and ready state regardless of user activity.
For MS SQL Server the default is set to "FALSE" so the database does not free any resources. This makes the database server quicker when the database is accessed again. For the Desktop Edition "TRUE" is the default. This is done because of the small footprint. Resources are freed whenever possible.

To switch the option to off you can use the following sql statement:

exec sp_dboption 'database_name','autoclose','off'
