LKBEN10698: Howto create a file with a certain length under windows


Symptom

You need a file with a certain size for testing some performance problems

Cause

none

Solution

You can use the fsutil command line for creating a file with a certain length.

The following will create a file of 1000 bytes:

E:\>fsutil file createnew c:\temp\1000.txt 1000

This will create a file with 100 MB
E:\>fsutil file createnew c:\temp\100000000.txt 100000000

For more information you can use the /? parameter
