LKBEN11210: Howto make a quick performance test for your graphics card under linux

Symptom

You would like to know some performance data from your graphics card

Cause

Everybody wants to know this from time to time...

Solution

To quickly check some performance data from your graphics card, you can use glxgears or glmark2. When running glxgears, the framerate will be approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.

To go above this level you can use the following command:

env vblank_mode=0 __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=0 glxgears

To have more extensive performance tests, you can install the phoronix test suite. This is more complex to use but will give you better results.
Have fun.
