LKBEN11168: Howto start a glassfish server on Kubuntu with asadmin
Symptom
You need to start glassfish by hand, or want to start a certain domain
Cause
none
Solution
You do not want to always start the java application server by system startup
To start the glassfish java application server you need to use a sudo command. The following command will start your domain1.
sudo ./asadmin start-domain domain1
Please note to start the command from the installation directory. On a Kubuntu system this is /usr/share/glassfishv2/bin by default. To know which domains you have for starting you can use the following command:
sudo ./asadmin list-domains
This command tells you which domains you have and if they are started. When a domain is running, you can deploy java applications (jar, war, ear) with the netbeans IDE and run them on the fly.
