LKBEN11137: How to fix the access to a removable medium.

Symptom

You need access to a removable medium.

Cause

You have trouble to access a removable medium.

Solution

You have connected a removable medium (e.g. and USB stick, a memory card, a digital camera or an extrenal HDD) via USB to your computer. The medium can be seen in your filemanager (e.g. Nautilus) but no access is possible. This may be up to the "hald" service not running correctly.

Open the console and type lshal + <Enter>. Now you should get a list of all administered devices. If "hald" is not running correctly an error message should appear. In this case restart the "hald" service with the following command: "sudo invokerc.d dbus restart".
