LKBEN11062: Posix error 4: Interrupted system call

Symptom

You get the error message: Interrupted system call

Cause

none

Solution

This error can occur when programming in C/C++ or even from a bash shell. What happens is that a system call is interrupted. This is most of the time due to a siginterrupt fuction. (default behaviour on BSD)

The siginterrupt() function (defined in #include <signal.h> supports programs written to historical system interfaces. A conforming application, when being written or rewritten, should use sigaction() with the SA_RESTART flag instead of siginterrupt().

Definition:

int siginterrupt(int sig, int flag);

Depending on the flag, the system call will be restarted or not.
