LKBEN10955: Howto find your IP address with ifconfig under linux
Symptom
You do not know your ip address
Cause
none
Solution
You can use the ifconfig command to get your ip address. When you run it as user, do not forget to give it the full path.
/sbin/ifconfig -> this will print a lot of information
To just get your ip address out of this bunch of information you can use the following line of code:
env LC_ALL=C /sbin/ifconfig eth0|sed -n '/addr:/s/ [^r]*..//gp'
Just try it, it works. (tested on debian)
