LKBEN10920: How to Re-activate your Windows XP with another License Key

Symptom

Somehow the Activation of Windows XP is faulty and you need to re-enter your License or you need to enter another one

Cause

Several Causes with Genuine Advantage Notification or faulty Windows Activation

Solution

Whatever the reason, software piracy is illegal. The following entry is intended for correcting a legal Windows Installation or for legalizing one without needing to re-install Windows XP.

  1. Navigate to "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents"
  2. Double-Click "OOBETimer"
  3. Enter anything new (doesn't matter what)
  4. Run "%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a"

You now will see a dialog box allowing you to enter a new Licence Code and activate it.
