LKBEN10878: Start Windows Explorer instance as administrator

Symptom

to perform certain tasks with extended rights you can use the runas command. Explorer cannot be started in another context from right click menu

Cause

use the seperate switch in command line

Solution

When using Internet Explorer 7 or higher, it is not possible any more to start another explorer window with runas from the context menu. There are two solutions:

1. open a command shell (cmd.exe) and enter:

runas /user: "explorer.exe /separate"

2. logon as administrator and open explorer, menu Extras -> folderoptions -> view-tab and check "start folderwindow in separate process"
