LKBEN10637: Howto change the listening port for rdp or remote desktop
Symptom
You need to change the port to traverse a firewall
Cause
The default port is known and should be changed
Solution
With remote desktop you can connect to a computer and control it completely. You can change the default port it is listening on to create a higher security. Please note that this kind of security is not very safe!
To change the default port you need to change the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
You can change the portnumber and close regedit. (If you change it in Hexadecimal, you need to calculate the portnumer in decimal)
