LKBEN11188: Howto configure colors in git


Symptom

You need to change your colors for status, commit, checkout and branch

Cause

none

Solution

To configure git so you will see colors you use the following commands:

git config --global color.status auto
git config --global color.branch auto
git config --global color.diff auto
git config --global color.interactive auto

This will create or change your git configuration file "~/.gitconfig" in your home drive with the following contents:

[color]
        diff = auto
        status = auto
        branch = auto
        interactive = auto
