LKBEN11046: Howto remove a package with dpkg on debian or ubuntu/kubuntu
Symptom
You need to uninstall a package
Cause
none
Solution
To uninstall an installed package with dpkg you just need to enter the following command:
dpkg -r <packagename>
This will uninstall the package but the configuration files remain on the system.
dpkg -r -P <packagename>
With purge you uninstall everything, even the configuration files.
The complete syntax is the following:
dpkg -r | --remove | -P | --purge package ... | -a | --pending
