LKBEN11044: Howto list the contens of a package with dpkg on debian or ubuntu/kubuntu

You want to know the contents of a package
Cause
none
Solution
to list the entire package you can use the following command:
dpkg -c <packagename.deb>
Please note you need to give a *.deb package as a parameter. You can look at the contents of a package before installation.
To look at the contens of an installed package you can use synaptic which has a GUI. From the command line I use debsums which also shows you if the files have been changed.
e.g. debsums mc
(mc stand for the midnicht commander)
