LKBEN10999: Howto backup and restore a postgresql database

Symptom

You need to backup a postgresql database

Cause

Postgres databases need a backup just like anything else

Solution

You can use the pg_dump utility to make a consistent backup of your database. e.g.

pg_dump  lubby > BU-LubbyDB

and for a restore you use:

psql lubby < BU-LubbyDB

Sometimes it is better to drop the database first and create it again!
