LKBEN10864: Howto change your boot.ini on a windows system before vista


Symptom

You need to change your boot.ini file on windows so your the booting can be changed.

Cause

none

Solution

You can see your boot.ini in c:\ with the attrib command.

C:\>attrib boot.ini
A  SHR     C:\boot.ini

This file is hidden and read only. To change this you can use

attrib -s -r -h boot.ini

Now you can open the boot.ini file with notepad, change it and save it again.

After the change we have to set back all the options for the operating system.

attrib +s +r +h boot.ini
